Hydrant Flushing Notice

Hydrant Flushing:

The Town will be conducting its semi-annual hydrant flushing.  What is it?

  • A controlled procedure vital to the general maintenance of our water distribution
  • Ensures adequate water flow is available to fire services, residents, and businesses
  • Clears iron and other mineral deposits from the water mains

You may notice reduced pressure on that day, and you may also notice cloudy, rust coloured water as the iron and other mineral deposits in the mains are stirred up.

Monday October 05, 2026:

  • Town Wide Flushing.
  • Residents in the Construction area will not be flushed at this time because the new hydrants and looping system was flushed and pressurized.
  • Wait until the flushing has subsided in your area then you can run a garden hose for 10 minutes if you like or the cold water tap 10 minutes until the water runs clear.

What can you do:

  • Sunday October 04 – Gather water for your home and/or business to tide you over for a couple of days.
  • Run your water Monday night before you use it or wait until Tuesday and still run your water for a bit.
  • Run cold water until it runs clear.
  • Don’t wash your whites for a couple of days and run a load of water through your washer.
