53rd Avenue & 54th Street Rehabilitation Project Out for Tender
The 53rd Avenue & 54th Street Rehabilitation project was put out for tender in March. It remained out for tender until the date of April 23rd, 2026.
The Town of Thorsby Council has authorized the complete rehabilitation of 53rd Avenue and 54th Street, as well as water main improvements which would also loop the existing dead-end water pipes to allow for more free flow and less sediment build up of water in the area.
This project is expected to begin from the end of May to the end of September, weather dependent.

The 53rd Avenue & 54th Street Rehabilitation project was put out for tender in March. It remained out for tender until the date of April 23rd, 2026.
Through resolution of Thorsby Council at the regular meeting held April 28, 2026, it was resolved to accept the tender of Pidherney’s Inc., upon recommendation of our engineers Select Engineering, to complete the 53rd Avenue & 54th Street Rehabilitation Project. The Project is budgeted for $2.4 million which will be funded by Provincial & Federal Grants, Reserves, and a Debenture.
Construction is expected to start June 08, 2026. Residents affected will receive communication regarding the construction and frequent updates which take into consideration garbage, recycling, and organics pick up, parking, emergency vehicle access and other issues.

A town hall was conducted on May 19th, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Arctic Spas Recreation Complex main lobby, with the construction contractors informing residents of what to expect with the road work project. Also in attendance were RCMP, Leduc County Fire Services, our Peace Officer, and the Town's Solid Waste/Recycling/Organic Waste Contractor.
