Alberta Referendum Signage
The Alberta Elections Act has determined that signage
placement for the Alberta Referendum falls under this act. Municipalities
are not allowed to pass Bylaws or policies to prohibit this signage.
Having said that please adhere to the following when placing your signage:
- Signage placed on private property must have the
owner’s permission.
- Signage is allowed on municipal property and if
you’re not sure please check in with the Town Office. We will be more
that happy to guide you.
- Signage must follow the Alberta Elections Act for
removal after the Referendum date.
Any signs vandalized will be investigated by our Community
Peace Officers with optional referral to the RCMP.
Special note for the two signs put up in Thorsby – They are
on private land, and the owners have had a concern that no permission was
granted. Please move them to Municipal Property.
