Pickup and Drop-Off School Parking Guidelines
Attention Thorsby Parents & Guardians!
As the school year kicks into full swing, we want to remind everyone about the importance of safe and respectful parking during pick-up and drop-off times. Please note that violations can result in fines under the Traffic Safety Act and related regulations.
Please remember:
- Crosswalks: Do NOT park on or block crosswalks. Our little ones rely on these to cross safely.
- UHRRR Section 44(e): Stop/park on a crosswalk or part of a crosswalk.
- Stop/Yield Signs: Keep at least 5 meters away from stop or yield signs to ensure visibility and safety.
- UHRRR Section 44(h): Stop/park within 5 meters from a stop or yield sign.
- Fire Hydrants: Maintain a 5-meter distance from fire hydrants to allow emergency access.
- UHRRR Section 44(i): Stop/park within 5 meters from a fire hydrant.
- Driveways/Garages: Avoid parking too close to driveways or garages, ensuring clear access for residents.
- UHRRR Section 44(j): Stop/park within 1.5 meters from access to a garage/driveway.
- Marked Crosswalks: Do not park within 5 meters from the near side of a marked crosswalk to keep pedestrian crossings clear.
- UHRRR Section 44(k): Stop/park within 5 meters from the near side of a marked crosswalk.
- No Parking Zones: Pay attention to traffic control devices and avoid parking where prohibited.
- UHRRR Section 44(n): Stop/park where prohibited by a traffic control device.
Important: You cannot park in these zones, not even for a second. Tickets will be issued to operators found in violation. If a vehicle is found without the operator present, the ticket will be sent to the registered owner. Vehicles found in violation may also be tagged and towed at the owner's expense.
Let’s work together to make pick-up and drop-off times safe and stress-free for everyone. Your cooperation makes a big difference!
Thank you for helping keep our school community safe!
