JOINT NEWS RELEASE: Exploring New Opportunities to Strengthen Water Security

This is the first press release to start the information process and to let you know that both Councils and Administrations have been working hard on this initiative. There will be more information coming out and dates to remember as we move forward this spring so stay tuned to the Wetaskiwin page. We have chosen this page to keep all information in the same place for easy location and so that you know that the information on that page is correct, real, and vetted by the Councils.

Senior Citizens Centre

Thorsby & District Seniors Centre

After years of fundraising, in 2016 the seniors started a building committee to pull everything together and to seek out grants for the final push to help their dream of a new senior's centre become reality.

In 2017, their application for a Community Facilities Enhancement Grant through the Province was approved for $125,000, and along with their own funds and additional grants from Leduc County and the Town of Thorsby, they finally broke ground and engaged a local building company to start the project.

Today, there is a functional seniors centre and thrift store that is very often utilized located at 4812 51st in Thorsby, AB.
