What do you do with my registration information?

Nothing apart from ensuring that when you enter the voting booths, your name is checked off and you are able to quickly and efficiently conduct your vote without extended wait times or the need to register at the desk on election day. Your voter information cannot be used in any other function and is stored securely.

If I don't register through VoterLink, can I still vote?

Yes of course! As long as you have proof of residency or an elector willing to sign an affidavit on the day of the election, you can be verified to vote in the election. However, we encourage registering to vote through VoterLink in order to expedite your process, ensuring that you will have a quick and simple experience on election day.

Why should I use VoterLink?

You are under no obligation to use VoterLink to register for the 2025 municipal election, however, there are key benefits to doing so.

  • If you register through VoterLink, when you come to vote:
    • You only have to show one piece of identification approved by the Local Authorities Election Act, then your name will be checked off, and you will immediately be verified to vote if you are on the electors database.
  • If you register at the voting booths on the day of the election:
    • You will be required to bring in identification verification and proof of residency, such as a utility bill with your name and residential address, or a verified elector who can vouch for your residency through an affidavit. This process will be more time consuming and could be even more difficult for renters or lessees who may or may not have a utility bill in their name. Registering to vote ahead of time ensures the fewest number of complications could arise on the day of the election.
